This LIGHTWEIGHT GROUNDSHEET is designed to provide additional protection to your lightweight backpacking tent floor, and can be invaluable if pitching on potentially damaging ground where there maybe unseen nasties such as, thorns, sharp rocks, gravel, etc.
As well as effectively adding another layer of waterproofing to your tent's sewn-in groundsheet, the use of this additional groundsheet can drastically reduce the everyday wear and tear, and hence increase the lifespan of the floor of your lightweight camping tent.
Made from 210T waterproof polyester with a hydrostatic head rating of 5000mm, this groundsheet weighs just 148 grams, and measuring 210cm x 90cm, is suitable for any of the lightweight tents that we supply - or indeed any small lightweight tent requiring the protection of an additional groundsheet.
NOTE: By their very nature, modern lightweight tents have very thin, lightweight fabric floors. And while the hydrostatic head rating of these lightweight fabric floors may provide quite adequate waterproofing, they are far less resistant to puncture from sharp objects and general wear and tear than tents with thick, heavy floors. Even the cleanest, softest looking area of grass may harbour something unseen that could potentially damage your tent floor, so it really can pay to have an extra layer of protection. Personally I always backpack with a bright orange, thick polythene survival bag, which then doubles as a secondary groundsheet when I pitch my tent, but if I did not have that, I would certainly be using an additional lightweight groundsheet.
